Transition to Kura (school)

Within the preschool programme the kaiako encourage and support the children in transitioning from the preschool environment into the school environment.

Kaiako at Arthur Burns support this important transition through providing learning experiences that encourage and develop a variety of skills and abilities, that promote lifelong learning. All of our local kura provide transition programs which we support, and we work collaboratively together with whānau to ensure the process is a positive experience.

Areas of focus we consider when thinking about transitioning to kura are:

* Social routines

* Organisational & manipulative skills

* Early language & numeracy knowledge

* Gross & fine motor skills
